Heat Wave!!!

When your town is hit with a major heat wave do you
a) Go outside and stand there just to see how hot it REALLY is
b) Have a water fight with your friends
c) Hang out in the coldest part of your house eating popsicles and reading a book
Shamefully, my answer is a :P. I'm sorry, but I REFUSE to believe the thermometer. So, I rate it on my own thermometer:
CAUTION: EXTREME HEAT; MAY CAUSE SEVERE BURNS
Boiling
Really hot
Pretty hot
Hot
Kinda Hot
Pretty Warm
Warm
Whatever.
Cool, but you could still go out in short sleeves and shorts
Pretty Cool--jacket advised
Kinda Cold
Cold
Pretty Cold
Really Cold
Freezing
CAUTION: EXTREME COLD; 10% CHANCE YOU MAY FREEZE TO DEATH
Yeah...so, my town's been hit with a heat wave. It's at Really Hot on my thermometer right now, but who knows where it'll go.
So, in other news, my dog stinks. Literally. She smells AWFUL!!! We give her baths, and then it's worse--that wet dog smell UGH!!! I love my dog, but she smells so bad!!! Ah, well. I guess that's life. Sometimes your dog just ends up being smelly and...*GAK* I can smell her again. Okay, I have to go get some air freshener (which I actually hate, bye the way, but it smells SO MUCH better than my dog).
Tootles!!!

For Eliana

Okay, so one of my friends (blog name Zozomagozo) told me that her sister wanted me to blog about how...uh...hot Draco Malfoy is. So...here it goes.
Oh. My. Gosh. Draco Malfoy is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot! I just can't get over his hotness! If I was ice, I would melt. Because he's so hot. Done!
I'm sorry that was so short, but it was for Eliana and Zozomagozo so...yeah.
Until next time, my little babooshkas! (Yes, Zozo, I know that's Caroline's word, but I think she'll let me borrow it :D)

Camp Chocolat`!

Today on of my camps starts. And just what camp is it, you ask? Camp Chocolat`! It's a camp where you make all kinds of chocolate goodies. And then you hide them from your teenage sister.
You also do a bunch of crafts, too. At the end of the week, you make a recipe book. On Friday, I'll post pictures of all the stuff I made.
Ciao!

What is Wrong with Kids these Days?

I know, I sound like one of those old guys--you know the type, like "darn you young whippersnappers!", but I'm serious. seriously. Okay, well, I can't do a fully serious post, so here's my semi-serious post.
Okay, so last night I was babysitting for this little girl. She was watching TV and during the commercials we were talking about Disney movies. You know, like the cartoons made by THE Walt Disney, not just some company using his name. Anyway, I went "When I was your age, I loved Winnie the Pooh," which is true; it was my favorite movie (we had it on video). So then she goes "Yeah, I love him"--referring to Pooh--"I watch him almost every day on TV!"
"Really?" I said. "Winnie the Pooh is on TV?"
"Yeah." So then she picks up the remote and starts flipping through channels and stops on Winnie the Pooh. Or should I say...Winnie the FRAUD!
It was some fake WTP (Winnie the Pooh; I'm tired of writing it) and they were like...detectives or something. I just couldn't believe that this is what little kids think is Disney!
Now, you have to understand that I am a HUGE Walt Disney fan, so this was like a slap in the face to me. Although, I am rethinking my post title...it's not really the kid's fault; it's the fault of those people who take the name of Disney and turn it into something else.
Another thing you have to understand is that I'm totally fine with Disney/Pixar films like Toy Story, Wall-E, you get the idea. But the thing that bugged me about this was that they're taking the creation of Disney and A. A. Milne (the author of WTP) and doing something completely different. Disney's cartoon followed A. A. Milne's story, but this...this was something else.
Well, I'm off to go grumble to myself about all this so until next time!

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, to all you wonderful dads out there! Thank you all so much. We wouldn't be alive without you! What did you guys get you dads for Father's Day? Sorry that this is such a short post, but I need to  get to my OWN dad! Until then, never stop commenting!

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Have any of you ever seen the movie or read the book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? I've done both :D. I finished the book on Thursday, and saw the movie with my dad last night. So, I've decided to do a review--on both the movie and the book.

Book
Rating (out of 5): 4.5
Summary (contains spoilers; from bookdrum.com): Arthur Dent has woken up with a hangover on his least favourite day of the week, but this day is about to get worse still.  Outside his front door is a bulldozer preparing to demolish his house to make way for a new bypass.
Arthur may think the day cannot possibly get any worse, but his peculiar friend Ford Prefect has even more dire news: the entire Earth is about to be demolished by a Vogon Constructor Fleet currently in orbit around the planet. Why? To make way for a new hyperspace bypass of course.
Does this mean Arthur and his really quite interesting career in local radio are doomed? Not a bit of it, because Ford Prefect is not an earthling at all but an alien and a roving writer for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The two friends hitch a lift aboard one of the Vogon ships just before the Earth is destroyed.  But their luck doesn’t improve: they are cruelly tortured with truly terrible poetry before being expelled into the empty, airless wastes of space.  Surely this time they must perish?
No again, as they are most improbably picked up by another spaceship piloted by the President of the Galaxy himself, the one and only Zaphod Beeblebrox, and his companion Trillian. Arthur and Ford join Zaphod, Trillian and their depressed robot Marvin on their quest to find Magrathea, a legendary lost planet.
On Magrathea, Arthur discovers that planet Earth was in fact a vast super-computer designed to elucidate the great question of life, the universe and everything.  By a curious series of events, the race of pan-dimensional beings who commissioned the computer already have the answer to life, the universe and everything – but they’ve found it’s not much use without the question.
The Earth’s calculations were due to run for ten million years, but just five minutes before completion the Vogons destroyed it.  Arthur’s survival offers the pan-dimensional beings an alternative to beginning again with an Earth mark II, if Arthur would just consent to let them extract his brain.
Arthur is understandably not keen on the idea and he, along with Zaphod, Ford, Trillian and Marvin, depart Magrathea in rather a hurry, bound for a late lunch at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
Why I liked it: It was laugh-out-loud funny! It was also well-written.
Why I loathed it: Some parts were actually hard to understand or follow along. I found myself getting lost sometimes. Other than that, I loved it!
Movie
Rating (out of 5): 3.5
Summary (a bit different from book; from imdb.com): Everyone has bad mornings. You wake up late, you stub your toe, you burn the toast...but for a man named Arthur Dent, this goes far beyond a bad day. When he learns that a friend of his is actually an alien with advanced knowledge of Earth's impending destruction, he is transported off the Earth seconds before it is exploded to make way for a new hyperspace motorway. And as if that's not enough, throw in being wanted by the police, Earth II, an insane electronic encyclopedia, no tea whatsoever, a chronically depressed robot and the search for the meaning of life, and you've got the greatest adventure off Earth.
Why I liked it: It was, like the book, laugh-out-loud funny! They also did a great job showing the main concept, which is hard to do with that book. Plus, Alan Rickman and Bill Nighy, two Harry Potter actors were in it!
Why I loathed it: They added in romance that really wasn't needed. They also changed the storyline, and, of course, the girl had to get captured :(. And since Arthur steals Zaphod's girlfriend, they had to throw in some random girl for Zaphod instead.

Musicals

How many of you guys out there like musicals? How many of you guys out there LOVE musicals? I am SUCH a musical theatre lover! No, I'm not talking High School Musical--I'm talking "My Fair Lady, "Gypsy", and all the Broadways!
Recently, I've fallen in love with "Les Miserables." I'm not sure if that's actually an opera...there's some debate about that. Anyway, you can comment telling me your FAVORITE musical, and I'll also be putting up a poll.
Okay, back to "Les Mis." I saw it at my sister's high school--AMAZING! But my favorite character was Javert. *SPOILER ALERT* DO NOT READ IF YOU WISH TO BE SURPRISED!
Javert is an officer who devotes his whole life to catching the main character, a prison escapee, Jean Valjean. He's spent 19 years chasing after him, when suddenly, Valjean saves his life. In the end, Javert is so confused that he commits suicide. I found that scene to be extremely meaningful.
The boy who played Javert was amazing. He portrayed Javert so well! And what a great singer!
Below is a picture of the cast of "Les Miserables" from when I went to see it. Javert is the guy in the officer's uniform.
